Female Sexual Arousal & Orgasmic Disorder – Compounded Cream Treatments

Female Sexual Arousal & Orgasmic Disorder – Compounded Cream Treatments 1024 538 Community Clinical Pharmacy

Potential Treatments for Sexual Dysfunction in Women

Sexual Health is important for both men and women. Addressing conditions that affect one’s ability to experience satisfaction during sexual activities can make all the difference in a person’s quality of life, relationships, or even confidence in dating.

Sexual Health in Females

There seems to be more attention given to men over women when it comes to treating sexual dysfunction.

Why is it, there are close to 2 dozen FDA approved medications to assist men in the bedroom but there is only one available for women?

Many women have opted for compounded arousal enhancing creams (with prescription) to treat:

  • Sexual arousal disorder. Your desire for sex might be intact, but you have difficulty with arousal or are unable to become aroused or maintain arousal during sexual activity.
  • Orgasmic disorder. You have persistent or recurrent difficulty in achieving orgasm after sufficient sexual arousal and ongoing stimulation.

What are Compounded Arousal Enhancing Creams?

In general, an arousal enhancing cream is a topical cream that, when applied to the clitoris or external genitalia, can increase blood flow to the area and has been reported to improve sexual response and ability to reach climax. Arousal enhancing creams are designed to act locally to improve blood flow to the genitals.

The basic arousal enhancing cream that you may have heard of is called Dream Cream or Scream Cream. Another option is Sildenafil Cream (Sildenafil is the generic name for Viagra). And one of the more popular creams is called Trimix Cream. Trimix Cream is a combination of Papaverine, Phentolamine, and Prostaglandin. It is usually applied to the external genitalia 15–30 minutes before sexual activity to promote sensitivity and arousal.

There are many different variations of arousal enhancing creams that can be custom made depending on your needs and your budget. Some of these creams may have Testosterone, if your Testosterone level needs a boost. As with all compounded medications, these creams require a prescription and our expert pharmacists will be happy to present options to you and your healthcare provider and help improve the quality of your life.

Common Risk Factors for Sexual Dysfunction in Women

  • Menopause

The end of your menstrual cycles, usually 12 months after your last menstrual period, is defined as menopause. Hormone imbalances can affect sexual function.

  • Early Onset Menopause

Chemotherapy and radiation may also contribute to early onset of menopause. Sexual dysfunction can also be a problem in younger women with no hormonal challenges. Women are now more open to discussing their intimate lives with their healthcare providers. Some of the common complaints we hear from females are related to low sex drive, vaginal dryness and difficulty reaching climax.

  • Blood Flow and Anorgasmia

One of the reasons women experience difficulty getting aroused or do not have an orgasm (anorgasmia) is related to the blood flow to the genitalia. As a woman gets older, there is a possibility that she may experience diminished blood flow to female organs. In order to address this issue, compounding pharmacists have been creative in making magical potions.
