The “Aha” Moment, Self-Reflection in Dark Times
Sharzad Green Pharm.D. shares her journey that has lead to her passion to educate women on ALL their BHRT Options.
Sharzad Green, Pharm.D has come a long way in becoming The Valley’s leading hormone expert. Her life experiences have helped push her into providing premium, personalized care for women with expertise, passion, & the most advanced medication compounding. As she shares her personal experience, she hopes to connect with our community, who may be going through a similar situation.
This story is Part III, a continuation of Think Twice, Ask an Expert Before Taking a Hormone.
Committing to Helping Women
On the first day back from my training at PCCA, I announced my decision to my mentor, Lee. I had decided that I was going to be a compounding pharmacist and specialize in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. Lee was thrilled as he was near retirement.
Taking a Leap of Faith
My daughter was less than 6 months old when we opened our small compounding pharmacy. Lee generously provided moral support and guidance. He introduced me to the physicians in the area who had worked with him for many years. He had unwavering patience and incredible wisdom. I learned from Lee that respect must be “earned” over time. He taught me that once you take great care of your “patients” – success will follow. He also told me to realize the value of my knowledge and expertise.

Sharzad Green, Pharm. D., is a hormone replacement specialist & pharmacist at Community Clinical Pharmacy, in Mesa, Arizona. She offers private Hormone Replacement Consultations to find a tailored solution that fits your needs. Sharzad has had the privilege of working with over 12,000 patients and providers in the Valley and around the world.
With a baby at home and a new business, my days were long and exhausting, but I had so much passion for what I did that I never stopped. My mom and dad were of tremendous help to my husband and I. They watched our daughter, delivered home cooked meals to us and provided us with unconditional love. Our son was born in December of 2000. My husband was still working at his regular job supporting our family throughout the first couple of years of our business. He was and still is my rock.
Another Unexpected Turn of Events
There was no time to rest. Life was busy and I was keeping up with the pace until one Saturday afternoon in October of 2001, I started having severe abdominal pain and vomiting. We were visiting my in-laws in Tucson. I resisted going to the hospital but by 8:30 pm that night, I was violently ill and had to go to the emergency room. I got admitted to the hospital in Tucson.
No one knew what was wrong. I had many visits from surgeons, infectious disease doctors, and gastroenterologists.

Things were taking a turn for the worse. The surgeon wanted to cut me open to see what was going on. I requested to be transferred to Banner Desert Hospital where I knew some of the doctors and was more confident about the care I would receive.
Reflecting on Life
While in the hospital, the situation became grim and as a mother, I had to face the thought of what if… Who would raise my children? If you have ever had to seriously ponder about your life and your existence, recognizing what truly matters to you becomes an incredibly easy task.

An Epiphany of Desperate Times
This was my “aha moment”. What would Sharzad want to do with her life, if she were given a chance to live through this health scare?
If only I could get a second chance, a chance to do something great.

The highly addictive nature of opioid pain medications has been problematic as abuse and overdose continues to rampage patients. Low Dose Naltrexone, also known as LDN, has risen in popularity as a non-opioid alternative for addressing chronic pain and autoimmune conditions.

This discrepancy is not only highlighted in the media, but it is clear that it translates through the pharmaceutical industry, where commercially available products for men’s sexual health are aplenty, while products for female sexual satisfaction are limited.
